CONTINUING WITH ISMID, one of the Prophetic Treatment Procedures

    Jabir (r.a) said:

I heard from the Messenger of Allah (pbuh) as follows:

"When you go to bed, keep the ismid (so-called rubbing on your eyes). Because it cleans the eye, increases the sight and grows the hairs (ie eyelashes)." (Ibn-i Mâce, Tıbb, 25)

In the narration from Ibn Abbas (r.a), the Prophet (pbuh) stated the following:
"Keep using Ismid, because it is the best one to apply. It gives shine to the eye (clarifies the vision) and finishes the hair (eyelash)." (Tirmidhi, Libâs 23)

Today, we know that the medicines for many diseases are produced from plants. There are many examples of medicine reported by the Prophet in the hadiths; However, it must be sadly expressed that we, as Muslims, know the value of this and that we investigate these recommendations to the extent of today's possibilities and reveal the healing elements in them and offer them to the benefit of people. As a matter of fact, our effort in this matter is just like our effort to comply with other sunnahs.

It is stated in the hadiths that some of the substances recommended as medicines for various diseases are herbal substances, and some medicines should be sought for other diseases. It is necessary to consider the Ismid stone recommended by our Prophet (pbuh) for the eye in this context. Ismid is a driving stone. It is black in color and plays red. It is said that the best one came out in Isfahan. It is a bright and easy to fragment stone. When it is clean it is white silver in color.
It scents around when rubbed between fingers. (Ali Rıza KARABULUT, Tıbb-ı Nebevî Encyclopedia, Mektebe Pub., Vol.2, p.624)
Some benefits of the name that our Prophet (pbuh) recommended to use before bedtime is listed as follows:

Rubbing gives brightness to the eye and enables the eye to see clearly.
    It strengthens the eye nerves.
Rubbing absorbs tears and pus in the eye and removes burrs.
It re-finishes the lashes and makes them grow.
It reinforces the eye vessels, especially in the elderly and children.
When applied with thin liquid honey, it relieves headache.
The riding stone, which contains a little musk, is the best for the elderly and those with weak eyes. (Ibn-i Kayyim, Tıbb, p. 459)
Since the main substance of the application is 'antimony', it turns the eyelashes black.
Since the smear is black, it keeps the heat rays from the sun. Because it is also mentioned that the heat rays infect the eye, damage the lens and retina in the eye.
Some provisions on plowing are as follows:
It is makruh for men to practice rubbing only for decoration.
Riding is taken before going to bed. Sliding made of "ismid" stone is used as sliding.
On Fridays; smell, wash, etc. Riding is sunnah as well as circumcision.
Drive; It is driven three times to the right, three times to the left (to make the number odd in each pull) or three times to the right twice to the left (to make the number odd in total).
Spreading does not break the fast, even if its taste is felt in the throat or its saliva appears colored when spitting.
It is makruh to use a silver slider.
