    PREFACE

Magic has been a social and cultural phenomenon seen everywhere and in every social order in all known periods of history. However, the boundaries between prayer and magic have always been confused and blurred due to the fact that magic is often used in the same plane with prayer and there is no difference between pagan religious ceremonies and magical ceremonies.
It is seen that the magical expressions of productivity and hunting seen in the first cave paintings of the prehistoric period began to be put into formulas in Ancient Mesopotamia and Babylon with the discovery of writing. Formulas are strengthened with numbers by finding numbers after writing. In addition, the gods believed with incense/fragrances are forced to be guided and even to fulfill the wishes. We can see the similar applications of these practices in these kind of books written by people dealing with the science of air, which we can call magic books, which are often quoted or similar to each other, and which exist almost everywhere in the world. The fact that the text of prayer, verse, verse or religious words and sentences are placed among the magic formulas in such books, and that it is frequently read by people who do not know the Arabic alphabet and therefore respect the Qur'an, shows the respect shown to the Qur'an by ignoring the magic formulas in the books. This caused the likeness of it to be shown in these books, and even some believed that these books would not be touched without ablution.
These books, which are clearly seen to have magic formulas, are popular among the people, especially by being presented under the name of "reason and occult sciences" books, and these books are seen as normal prayer books by most people, even read by some on a daily basis and scientific in this field.
The reasons such as the lack of studies compelled us to do such a study. However, when the existence of hundreds of books written in the airspace is taken into account, the necessity of limiting our subject has emerged. For this reason, we found it appropriate to research the book Kenzü'l-Havâs ve Keyfiyet-i Celb ve Teshir by Seyyid Süleyman el-Hüseynî, who is especially famous among those who are interested in this field today. The fact that the book Kenzü'l-Havâs is a clear example of most of the magic formulas, and that there are many examples that are almost entirely composed of magic formulas and that religious and magical elements are intertwined in the book are among the reasons that are effective in the choice of this book. In order for the reader to see the original Arabic text while analyzing the examples, we have dealt with the existing errors, including the verses, without correction.
We tried to make a general evaluation about Kenzü'l-Havâs book and its author, Seyyid Süleyman el-Hüseynî, by briefly mentioning the importance of the study, the purpose, the method we followed in the research and the scope of the study in the Introduction section of our study, which consists of an introduction and two parts. In the introduction part II. Since we aimed to create the scientific background of the chapter, we tried to reveal the differences between "Magic" and "Prayer" and to give general information about the elements and objects used in magical operations in the book. This is part II. It has been kept particularly long, as it has a basis for the analysis of the examples in the chapter.
In Chapter I, we have discussed vefs and writings, which have a different feature from the magical processes and elements in the Introduction, under the title of "Magic Tools". By giving place to the use and transportation of vefk writing, letters and numbers in magical examples, II. We tried to make the transition to the department easier.
II of our study. We tried to reach the historical sources by giving place to the distinction between the few normal prayer examples in Kenzü'l-Havâs and the magical prayers and examples that make up a large part of the book, and the detection and analysis of the magical elements mixed into the prayers. In order for our study to reach its purpose, the magic examples in Kenzü'l-Havâs
Besides, we tried to reveal the differences between them by giving examples of prayers in the Qur'an and hadiths, and prayer examples made by the Prophets and religious leaders. We tried to limit the examples, to show the diversity among the examples, to clarify the subject by choosing remarkable examples, and to avoid repetitions, considering that such examples are too much in the book and will cause problems in terms of the volume of the study.
Encouraging me to prepare such a study and guiding me with his ideas and perspectives during its preparation, Prof. Dr. Ekrem SARIKÇIOĞLU and my teacher, who opened his library to me, shed light on the solution of the problems I encountered, and did not spare his support. Dr. I would like to thank Nasuh GÜNAY, especially my family and loved ones.
